Tuna Canyon Main Entrance (Easy Hike) Stunning 360-degree views of the Pacific Coast and San Gabriel Mountains. Hike up to 3 Miles of trails. Dogs on Leash. Free Parking. For a more challenging hike, and a closer drive from Santa Monica, access the trail via Big Rock Drive.
Mandeville Canyon Fire Road 8 miles, roundtrip. Easy/Rigorous trails run parallel to each other. Dogs allowed off leash. Lots of mountain bikers. Free parking lot at the end of Westridge Canyon Rd. If the lot is full, you can park on either side of Westridge. Watch Video
Temescal Canyon Ridge Loop Trail: 3 Mile loop. Seasonal waterfall. Panoramic views of the pacific all the way to downtown. No dogs allowed on the Ridge Loop Trail. Other trails in this park allow dogs on leash only. It’s $7 to park in the lot. Free parking on Temescal Canyon Rd. just south of Sunset Blvd.
Escondido Falls 5 miles round trip. Home of Santa Monica Mountain’s largest waterfall (150ft high). Moderate to strenuous. Ropes there to assist you up steep sides of the mountain. Dogs on leash, although it may be difficult for your pup to navigate the steep dirt terrain.
Solstice Canyon 2.1 - 9.4 miles, depending on trails chosen. Hike to ruins of the oldest existing stone building in Malibu and a waterfall. Easy to Moderate. Dogs on Leash. Small parking lot. Extra parking on PCH.
Bronson Canyon Caves Less than a mile from the “Camp Hollywoodland” Parking lot with access to Griffith Park. Dogs on Leash. Easy, unshaded hike. Explore caves and enjoy views of the Hollywood Sign.
